No 2009 Child Tax Credit Here, Ok???

So - one of the great pregnancy quotes from people has been, "you should have your baby in 2009 still so you get the tax break." There is not enough progress here to have a baby before midnight so please just leave the tax break comments be now! We'll get our tax break now when Lenna is older and we'll need the money more then.

My 39 week checkup was ok - pretty much the same as last week, I'm waiting on some good contractions. It is a "Blue Moon" tonight and maybe it will get some good contractions going. Until then we hurry up and wait :).

39 Weeks - 1 week until Jan 4 due date

1 week to go and we are more than ready for Lenna to arrive. She's making my world quite unconfortable right now, which I know is just the start of parenthood ;) . Tony is busy working hard this week trying to get some deadlines met with his job so I am thinking Lenna senses Daddy's stress and wants to be a 2010 baby.

Santa ran over the Stork

Merry Christmas little unborn Lenna! We are a firm believer that you would be here now if Santa Claus would not have ran over the Stork with his sleigh and reindeer. We are now 38 weeks, 5 days today. We had a doctor's appt yesterday and Lenna is fully engaged in the birth canal, which is at a 0 position and 2 cm dilated, and 80% effaced. Non of that really means much because it could be anywhere from 1 hour to 2 weeks yet. Dr. McCarl did say that now that baby is at 0, the odds are very slim we will have any complications due to my previous pelvic fractures for delivery. She said doctors can check out the bottom of the pelvis out but its hard to know what the top of it will do with all the pressure. She's not worried about induction until we hit 41 weeks, which is along with my birth plan.

Tony and I had a nice Christmas Eve at my Mom's with my brothers and their families. Lots of joking and laughing, which still didn't put me into labor. We had a very nice Christmas today. Lots and lots of snow. Tony and I made a Christmas quiche and had my Dad, brother Keith, his wife Kelli and niece Amber over this morning. We went to visit Tony's sister Denise and her husband Eric and their 3 kids Josh, Austin and Jordyn who are so cute. My niece Amber is staying over tonight to hang out so we are just kicking back now and waiting for Lenna to arrive.

The story of Lenna's Name

When I grew up on the farm, sometimes my parents would give me a chance to play with Barbie dolls and because my Mom was not hesitant to buy them for me (she wanted to avoid me becoming a tom-boy, which worked for a little while), I'd play with my dolls. While playing, when my dolls would have a baby or a family, I always envisioned a little girl named Lenna while playing. Lenna is short for Leonard or Lenny, my Dad's name so Lenna is named after her Grandpa Lenny. She is also named after her Grandma Sue, because we all share middle names. Susan Marie, Teresa Marie and Lenna Marie

Anyhow, I haven't told many about the "Lenna" name, I didn't want it to end up like an episode on Friends when Monica took Rachel's name, Emma. You never think your significant other will like a name like that but it just turned out Tony loved this name and Lenna Marie Peterson sounded beautiful with his last name. So Lenna is her name, and that's it!

37 Weeks, 5 days

Welcome to our blog! As we anticipate the birth of Lenna I thought I would add a few updates to her blog for a "before & after" effect. The past week has not been very easy with the extreme pelvic pressure and pain from Lenna sitting so low. I'm trying to take it in stride by lots of baths in our jacuzzi tub and lots of squats, and stretches on the exercise ball.

In the meantime, I'm already being asked by co-workers, friends and family, etc, "you still here?" yes, still here, still huge, blah blah blah. I am off 1/2 day today to get my gray roots covered (I can't look that old already) and for my 37 week checkup. We found out we are getting close, but no cigar (now I know where that slogan was originated). Our doctor said she was one of the docs on call during Christmas weekend. Maybe we'll deliver Lenna then...
